We also were interested in whether the meal worms would change into Pupa faster in the presence of other meal worms/pupa.

In our group we split up our meal worms, giving each person 2-3 meal worms. It took our worms a long time to change to the pupa stage with the first being on Feb. 16th. Others changed around Feb, 21st. After that they began to all change rapidly so that now the majority of the meal worms are at the pupa stage.(Note information above for more details on dates of change)

We also talked to other groups to see how they housed their meal worms and how quickly their meal worms changed into the pupa stage.
  • Danielle Leblanc's group housed their meal worms all together and they had 7 pupa's at the time that we asked them. They told us that they noticed their pupa changing fairly quickly after the first one.
  • Sara Belliveau's group housed all of their meal worms together except for one that was housed separately. They experienced the same type of situation in that the meal worms that were housed together seemed to change faster and the one that was on its own was still a meal worm at the end of the experiment process.
